What we collect, and what we don't.

Pet-Proof Plants is a reference site owned and operated by Island & Pine. The short version: we measure aggregate traffic with Google Analytics, only if you accept cookies. Affiliate links may use partner tracking after you click them.

What we collect

  • Analytics, if you accept cookies. Google Analytics 4 records anonymized pageviews, referrer, approximate location (country/region), device type, and browser. This is used to see which plants people search for and whether pages are useful.
  • Affiliate and partner link clicks. When you click an affiliate or sponsored partner link, we may record the destination, referring page, timestamp, user agent, and a shortened hash of the IP address. This helps us measure outbound clicks and prevent abuse.
  • Server logs. Standard request logs (IP address, user agent, URL, timestamp) are kept briefly by our hosting provider for abuse prevention.

What we don't do

  • No display advertising or ad-targeting cookies.
  • No selling visitor data.
  • No user accounts, profiles, or email collection.
  • No cross-site tracking by Pet-Proof Plants.

Cookies and consent

Analytics cookies are off by default. When you first visit, a banner asks whether to enable them; your choice is stored in your browser and remembered on future visits. You can change your mind by clearing site data for this domain, which will bring the banner back.

Affiliate networks, retailers, and sponsored partners may use their own cookies or tracking technologies after you click an outbound affiliate link. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies.

Third-party services

We use hosting infrastructure to serve the site, Google Analytics for aggregate measurement when consent is granted, and affiliate or partner networks to route and attribute sponsored links when visitors choose to click them.

Affiliate networks may receive information needed to attribute a click, purchase, lead, or commission to Pet-Proof Plants.
